A Rainbow Of Ribbons

Hi everyone,

Today I want to make some hand dyed
ribbon.  I love all kinds of ribbon.
It is so easy to make your own.

First lets get some items together.

You will need:
The inks of the colors you want to make.
A bowl to mix the colors in.

A glove to protect you hands.
A cup of water.
A container of alcohol.
Lots of paper towls:)
And the ribbon you want to color.
I am using "Hug Snug", it is a seam binding
that has a silky finish. It has 100 yards,
and it only runs about 9 dollars a spool.
I get mine from, they always
have great prices and free shipping over 35 dollars. They also run coupons. I get white and black. Because it is hard to make black ribbon.

I started out with a few drops of ink then added the water. I found out it is better to add the water first, then the ink.

When you have the color you desire.

Just measure out what you need, I used 4 yard
pieces, and put it in the bowl. Put
the glove on and make sure all the ribbon is covered. Then squeeze out any remaining liquid.

If you leave it in a pile like this, it will be
crinkly and the colors will be light and dark,
when dry.

Like this. Yes I know this is green.

Also if you let the ribbons touch each other they will bleed into one another.
So keep them apart until they dry.

This is the ribbons I made today.
64 yards, and it only cost me about
10 dollars to make.

To use the alcohol inks, you do the same thing, only use alcohol instead of water.

Dip ribbon in ink.

Then if you want the ribbon to be one color
and flat, just pull ribbon through fingers to flatten out and hang over door sill to dry.
And they will look like this.

I like to keep both on hand.
The crinkle you can iron flat, and the
flat you can add a little water and crinkle up.

If you only have the ink pads, that will work also. Just put the ribbon on the ink pad and hold your finger (with glove on ) over the ribbon, press down and pull ribbon through to the end. hang to dry.

I hope you will give this a try.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
And have a scrappy day.

Sunday Dinner

Hi Everyone,

Today I am going to do a dish in the slow cooker. I love the slower cooker,
you can put your dinner in the
cooker in the morning
and if you are like me, get the
house cleaned, then the rest of
the day is for crafting:-)

I like making something on a Sunday
morning, then make other dishes out
of the left overs for the rest of the week.

Today I am making a pork shoulder,
 Boston butt.

1. 5lb pork butt
2. 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
3. 1 can cream of celery soup
4. 1 can chicken stock
5. 1 package of beef aujus' mix
( or 1 can beef broth)
6. 2 lg sweet onion chopped lg
7. 6 stalks of celery chopped small
8. 2 cups baby carrots (optional)
9. 3 lg potatoes chopped (optional)
10. 5 or 6 garlic cloves

You can put any kind of veggies that you like.

In large slow cooker add soups, chicken stock,
aujus' mix, onions, celery, and any other veggies you desire.
Rinse the pork butt off and pat dry.
On the side with the fat make small slits
in the top and stuff the garlic in side.
Place roast, fat side up in the cooker,
and season with salt and pepper.
( be careful with the salt, the soups
have lots of salt in them already)
Place on medium (275 to 300) and
cook 4 to 5 hours
or until the roast is fall off the bone tender.

I added a few peaches on the top for
a little sweet taste.

Make the gravy out of sauce in cooker.
Pour sauce in pan, strain out veggies, put to the side. Bring to light boil,
mix 1/2 cup cold water with 3 Tbs. of
corn starch, pour in sauce. Bring
back to boil to thicken.
Serve veggies on the side, whip
up some mashed potatoes or
Mac and cheese and a salad, then ring the dinner bell. Yum!!! :)

As an added goodie today I am going
to share my sister in law, Tina's recipe for

"Bagel Cheese Dip"

1. 1 jar Old English Cheese
2. 2 8oz packages of cream cheese
3.1 bunch of green onions chopped
4. milk, just enough to make smooth

In bowl mix cheeses together until smooth.
Add onions and just enough milk to
make it smooth and creamy.

If you like it more cheesy, use an extra
jar of Old English Cheese, or add some
cheddar cheese powder.
You can get this at
They have all kinds of great items.

Serve with pieces of your favorite bagels,
or raw veggies. It is also great heated
up and served over broccoli.

You can also make a great pork sandwich.
Just use some of the pork you just made.
Toast up a hoagie bun, place cheese dip on the bun and add pork and onions from
 the dinner you just made.
Thank you Tina!!

I hope I at least made you hungry!

Thank you for stopping by.
Have a great Sunday.
