Happy Birthday Crafter's Companion

Hi Everyone,

This week is Crafter's Companion's Birthday.
They are 7 years old:)

And I have a fun project for us to do.

We are going to make our own chalkboard.
This would be great for the kiddos to help
with, and they can hang it on their door
to their bedroom.

This is my Chalkboard:

Let's get stared.

First you will need Plaid Chalkboard paint.
I used a piece of canvas board, but you can use a number of other porous surfaces.
 It is non-toxic
and water based. There are all kinds
of colors and they even have one
that glows in the dark.

Start out with the surface you have chosen.

Add one coat of paint. Wait one hour.

Then add another coat, you can add as many as you like, at least two. I used three. wait another hour.

Then add the last coat and wait 24 hours.

After the 24 hours, take a piece of chalk and turn it on it's side and rub all over the board. Then wipe off with an eraser or piece of felt cloth.

And your chalkboard is finished! :)

Then what I did was make a little box with my Ultimate-Crafters-Companion-Tool out of the wonderful Pearlescent-Card Stock
and attach that with a good liquid glue.
I put a strip of glitter paper on the front, and
decorated the board with two of the Fairyopolis Decoupage Characters.
Added some little gems and stamped on
"Especially For You" from the

I added some chalk and a small piece of the eraser in the box, Then wrote on the board
Happy Birthday to Crafter's Companion.
And all done!

I hope you enjoyed the project today.

Thank you so much for stopping by and taking
a look.

And have a scrappy day..

Sunday Dinner

Hi Everyone, Happy Sunday!!

It is a great day, today is my birthday.

I thought I would make  Home Made
"Bean Soup-N-Corn Bread"

Here is the Bean Soup:

This is my own recipe.

Start out with large bag of dry, great
northern beans. Soak in water over night.
Next morning, rinse beans and check for any little stones that may be mixed in with
the beans.

In a large slow cooker add ham bone with meat, or two or three ham hocks.
Add the beans, one large onion diced,
four stalks of celery diced,
pepper
one cup of shredded carrots
Then cover with chicken stock.
Make sure everything is covered with liquid.
Cover and set on high for one hour.
At one hour add three or four diced potatoes, and a little more pepper. Cook another three to 4 hours, until beans are soft. Add more chicken stock if needed. Take ham out of pot and shred in small pieces and add back to pot.
Taste, add more salt and pepper if needed.

Now for the Corn Bread

This is regular cornbread. My hubby
likes this kind.

I use Aunt Jemima Buttermilk self-rising
Corn Meal Mix

1 egg beaten
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
2 cups cornbread mix
1/2 cup mayo,( makes it very moist)

Mix all ingredients and pour into
a Pam sprayed pan. Bake at 425
for 20 to 25 minutes.
Take out of oven and add butter to top.

For my cornbread:

I added a few more yummy items!!

2 eggs
1/2 cup mayo
2 cups cornbread mix
2 cups butter milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup sun dried tomatoes that come in a jar
julienne cut with herbs in oil. ( just ask the produce person, they can tell you where
to find them).
Mix all together, pour into Pam sprayed
pan and bake at 425 for 30 to 40 minutes,
until tooth pick comes out clean.
Add butter to top.

Yum Yum Yum!!!

I hope you try the soup and bread.
Good on these cooler nights.
And it cooks all day, so you can craft those hours!  Yaaay!! :):)

Thank you so much for stopping by today.
Have a great Sunday!!
